He has gone through tremendous loss, discovered the help from scripture and records it to help others. This is a tremendous book when life has fallen to pieces. It does not matter what the circumstance this book will help (loss of loved ones, health, job, or any matter of grief). The writing is from experience and heart felt. When faith is tested through sorrow this is a go-to book. When all seems lost and there is nothing left but pain this will be worth your time. It will offer stability because it is based on the Biblical text. Gifford points out the comfort God promises to all.

Michael Gifford walks us through the Bible Book of Psalms to find the very much needed solace and rest. I have also experienced the loss of my pregnant wife and have been living in desperation. I was suffocating from unrelenting grief.

As the Book promises we find, Relief from your pain, A closer relationship with God, and a Greater determination to confidently move forward with a renewed sense of purpose. I was able to shed that constant nagging always pricking at the back of my head.

I knew that my Wife was a Christian, and so both would be waiting for me in Heaven. However, living in this temporal world was a constant reminder of my loss. Michael Gifford shows us all the hope only found in God in His Scriptures. Only God can walk us through to healing.

I am not a religious person. However, I lost my brother over five years ago, and not a day has gone by where I haven’t grieved in some way. This book has a power to it from the psalms. I cannot lie and say that religion and religious texts aren’t powerful helpers during grief. This book helps. It helped me and I believe that it can help others. I skipped around the chapters to the parts that I thought would be the best for me: Comfort in my refuge, At the end of the day, and chapter 1 the comfort of stability. I don’t feel aligned with the psalms that are too religious and related to God, but there are teachings there too. Everyone needs community. It can take a village to raise a child, and it can take a village to grieve for a lost loved one too.
